“Instructions for living a life.
Pay attention.

― Mary Oliver
Of Poetry and Painting
The poet Mary Oliver has been a lifelong source of inspiration. I strive to make art that speaks with paint the way she writes with imagery.
Following the advice of my favorite poet, I strive to live my best life.
Pay Attention
I wake and wander about my yard, poke in the garden, walk the dog, commune with nature, converse with the trees.
Be Astonished
The plant life and their microcosms captivate me and inspire my work.
Tell About It.
My way to tell you about the importance of this adventure is to convert my memories into shapes and symbols, textures and lines.
Do The Work
The first quarter of this year involved preparations for launching my new site and brand. When I had a moment in the studio to solely concentrate on painting, a new set of paintings developed.
Reinvigoration
These paintings feel tender and new. In some ways they represent a subtle shift in style.
A new season.
They are less frenetic than much of my work. For many months, I have been experiencing extreme vertigo which prevents me from working while standing. I typically use the wall and paint on a large scale. Sitting at a table changes my perspective and my pace. So, maybe everything really does happen for a reason. Trying to embrace the shift. Excited to see what emerges.
